Hurricane Earl Visits St. Kitts!

Monday, Brandon and I experienced our first hurricane here on the island. It was an interesting experience to say the least. We hunkered down and hoped for the best. Here is a couple of images from the aftermath of Hurricane Earl.

The main island grocery store, IGA, all boarded up and closed for the hurricane.

Beach chairs thrown around on the beach.

This video shows two coast gaurd ships that washed up to shore during the hurrricane.  It also shows what the beaches looked like after the hurricane.

Family Vacation: St. Kitts Style!

This past week, our parents came to visit us in St. Kitts. They were greeted at the airport with the news that Brandon is moving on to fifth semester (there are three more to go)! It was a great week full of fun, laughter, and GREAT times! We were sad to see them go, but we are looking forward to traveling back to the USA for Christmas!

Ronnie and Bonnie (Brandon's parents)
Cheryl and James (Emily's parents)
We were excited to have our parents come visit and also to have a couple weeks off from school!
This is called the Circus.  It is in the center of Basseterre (the capitol city of St. Kitts).
James and Ronnie at a place on campus where you can go down to the water and look for seashells.
Ronnie and James packing a case of Carib, a locally brewed beer, into their rooms at the Marriott.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE, they were huge fans of the local beer!
This is one of the Green Vervet monkeys that are found around the island.  Our dads are still trying to find a way to get one back to Texas!

Another picture of our home away from home.  Makes it hard to believe that we can't wait to get back to Texas!
Whether waiting for a drink or standing in line at the bank, you can never get in a hurry on this island.
This is the island's rainforest called Romney Manor.  It is beautiful this time of year!
The crew after a fun day of fishing with Sam the Boat Man (on the left).  We caught Spanish Mackerel and Barracuda.
This is the sign at the entrance to the vet school.
Enjoying some time at the beach with the family!  Thank you Bonnie for taking this picture.
Having a drink and a late lunch at Reggae Beach Bar!
Enjoying a fresh coconut!

Let us know if you would like to visit us in St. Kitts.  We know a really great tour guide!
