Don’t Let the Turtle Drive the Bus!

My class came up with a skit based on the book Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! by Mo Willems. They did a wonderful job and it was so neat to see their personalities shine through in their performance. You can see by their performance that they had fun doing this and I was one PROUD teacher! It is so cool to be a part of a school with such passion exhibited by the administration, students, and parents.  Being an international teacher is something that I will never forget and the knowledge I have gained is immeasurable.

I hope you enjoy their performance as much as I did!

Coca Cola

On Wednesday, my class went on a field trip to the Coca Cola Bottling Co. in St. Kitts, where Coca Cola is made in bottles locally here on the island.  Cans of Coke are imported from Puerta Rico and are a lot more expensive. I wasn’t really expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised by how modern the facilities were. The kids had a great time, and they enjoyed the taste test at the end of the tour!
This is what the bottles look like before heat is added to them.
When the heat is added, the plastic is formed into the Coca Cola bottle shape!

Turtleriffic!

Monday marks the start of “Turtle Jane” week at the prep school. Turtle Jane is my boss and the Superintendent of the Prep School as well as the Assistant Dean for Academics for the vet school. She is a very cool lady who has been collecting turtles for sixty years! The prep school’s mascot is a turtle and the school is covered in turtles. She has been off island all week, and to surprise her we decorated the hallway with more turtles.  The kids also did some special artwork for her. To help contribute to this fun-filled week, Brandon and I made over 100 turtle cookies to share with the entire prep school. Here’s to a turtlerific week!

Sugar Cookies in St. Kitts!

On Saturday, Brandon and I were invited to a brunch for baby Blaine. I have never made “Bonnie’s sugar cookies,” but I decided to give it a try. With a lot of help from my wonderful husband, we had 38 sugar cookies to share! It was a lot of fun making the cookies, but my favorite part was decorating them. Here are some pictures of the finished product!

St. Kitts's Cattle Trailer

Not sure that Brandon and Ronnie will be adopting this form of transportation for their cattle, but it works here in St. Kitts!

RUSVM Accreditation

Brandon and I are excited that Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine is now accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)!  This is a huge achievement and we are proud to have been a part of it. This is the press release announcing the accreditation.  We always knew that it was a great school, but now the AVMA thinks so too!

Here is a photo of the entire campus celebrating the accreditation!

Cruisin' Along

Brandon and I saw this outside our balcony tonight! We are still waiting for family and friends to cruise on down to St. Kitts to visit us. Until then, we will admire the ships that do come in!

When your husband is going into do anesthesiology on a sheep, don’t say “knock em’ dead.” NOT THE RIGHT THING TO SAY!
